A history of safety
They’ve got real pedigree when it comes to safety - they developed Japan’s first full-harness seat belt, after witnessing the regularity of accidents at the 1963 Japanese Grand Prix, in which only half the cars had seat belts. In 1996, they introduced the Multi Point Buckle, designed to keep the driver both safe and comfortable.
They’ve continued to innovate in the field of safety harnesses ever since and you’d do well to get some of their kit in your car. Please have a good look through our range of Takata Racing parts and equipment - you’ll quickly see just how much thought, passion and commitment they put into each of their products.
Incredible technical innovation
Their seat belts use ‘anti-submarining’ (asm) technology - this basically stops you from sliding out from under your belt (also known as submarining) in hard frontal impacts. In a severe impact, an energy converter on the shoulder belt containing the asm system releases an extra length of harness webbing, which allows the upper torso to slightly rotate, so you'll catch onto the belt before you slide out under it. It’s really amazing tech and we’re so pleased to be selling products from Takata.
Their seat belts also use bespoke polyester webbing for the harness that is more resistant to UV light, so won’t degrade gradually in sunlight. It’s also more resistant to battery acid and won’t absorb any moisture, so will work the same in whatever weather conditions you’re driving in.
The Takata Racing division has been developing safety equipment for top performance racing cars for decades, so their kit is all designed to work at top speeds and the highest g-forces. At Tarmac Sportz, we will never sell you anything that isn’t up to our high standards of safety and performance - we put this stuff in our cars, too! Their safety harnesses will keep you very much in place, and very comfortable, wherever you’re racing about.
Takata, due to high demand, have expanded their production globally with the addition of a new and expanded product line designed and manufactured by Takata Racing Europe. The new product line of RACE and DRIFT models, which are all made in Germany, compliments the existing MPH line of harnesses.
A great range of accessories
Takata don’t just do racing harnesses, they also make a wide variety of other parts and accessories, all designed to give you that edge when you really need it. They've got an excellent range of lightweight spoilers, constructed to keep your noise to the ground when you’re zooming about. Takat also have engine controllers to give you greater control over your car’s performance and fuel consumption and even stuff for body kits, like wide wheel arches.
