An integral part of driving a manual transmission car is driver feel. It's important that a manual transmission's shifter be firm, direct, and engaging. Manufacturers often make compromises when designing hands-on parts to minimize NVH (noise, vibration, and harshness) and in the case of the rear-wheel-drive VQ manual transmission, Nissan has done this by using rubber bushings in the mounting ears of the shifter support bracket. Rubber mount bushings are used to reduce driveline vibrations and noise in the shifter, but doing so leaves the shifter feeling numb and lifeless. This becomes more apparent as the mileage on your car increases and the bushings begin to wear. Z1's Billet Shifter Support Bushings install in place of the factory rubber bushings, solid mounting the shifter bracket to the transmission, providing more feedback to the driver and making shifts more firm and precise. Whether your car is a canyon cruiser or dedicated track machine, this simple modification is guaranteed to improve shifter feel and improve your driving experience.
Installation of these bushings is simple. Remove the factory shifter and bracket from the car, remove the worn rubber bushings, and press in the new solid bushings. To aid in installation, our engineering team has developed an install tool that can be purchased in the product options. This tool was designed to serve two purposes; to remove the stock rubber bushing and install the solid aluminum bushing. A relief cut in the back of the install tool ensures the bushing is pressed into the bracket at the right depth. We HIGHLY RECOMMEND purchasing the installation tool, as improper installation can result in damage to the OEM Shifter Support Bracket.
These bushings are compatible with all rear-wheel-drive VQ manual transmissions produced from 2005 onward, including the CD009, JK400, JK40B, JK41A, 1EA0A, and 1EA0B.
