370Z Exhaust Recommendations

The standard 370Z exhaust is quiet, prone to rust and doesn't really do the VQ37 V6 any justice.

It's usually one of the first things owners change, but which system should you go for?  We've been supplying and fitting 370Z exhausts for over 15 years and seen and heard most on offer. Below is a list of some of the more popular systems we recommend when asked.

Invidia Gemini – Our Go-To

The Invidia Gemini is our go-to 370Z exhaust and we've run them on our own cars.

We've been selling these for over 15 years and they've always been spot on. Great fit, great quality and a deep, refined sound without annoying motorway drone.

Add High Flow Cats and they sound even better.

Fits Nismo and non-Nismo models.

When fitted to a 370Z Nismo, the longer rear bumper and diffuser can make the standard Gemini exhaust tips look slightly lost so we offer an extension upgrade kit to 5” Tips which can be found here:

ARK GRiP – Serious Sound. Another personal favourite.

The ARK GRiP sounds fantastic. Deep, aggressive and one of the best sounding systems we've heard on a 370Z.

They can be a pain to fit as everything is very tight, but once they're on, they're worth it. Sounds great with standard cats and with High Flow Cats.

Important: Not a straightforward fit on Nismo models without extensive work.

Cobra Sport – Made in UK

Cobra offers systems for both Nismo and non-Nismo 370Zs, with the bonus of a UK lifetime warranty.

They're a good option if you're keeping the standard catalytic converters and want something considerably louder than stock.

With High Flow Cats they get VERY loud and can be droney, so bear that in mind – Our recommendation is use standard catalytic convertors.

They're also made to order, so lead times can be longer.

Z1 – Touring or Competition

Our partners at Z1 Motorsports offer two very different systems.

Z1 Touring – For the more mature owner. A little louder and deeper than OEM without going over the top.

370Z High Flow Cats / Sports Cats / HFCs

We get asked about High Flow Cats a lot, especially now the 370Z platform is getting older. We're regularly seeing original cats that have either stopped working or have rotted around the flanges. With OEM replacements now discontinued, your options are basically to take a chance on a used pair or upgrade to aftermarket Sports Cats.

Why Fit High Flow Cats?

High Flow Cats are much less restrictive than the standard cats, allowing the VQ37 to breathe better.

They're a great upgrade alongside an aftermarket exhaust and really bring out the V6 sound.

  • Sportier, more aggressive sound
  • Great match for an aftermarket exhaust
  • Ideal supporting modification for a remap
  • Direct replacement for ageing OEM cats

Things to know before buying:

They can trigger a check engine light, they generally won't last as long as OEM cats and emissions testing can be more difficult. Before an MOT emissions test, we recommend taking the car for a good 15-minute spirited drive to get the cats properly up to temperature.

Even then, there are no guarantees when it comes to passing an emissions test with Sports Cats.
