350Z & 370Z CSC Failure: Symptoms & Repairs

Clutch Pedal Stuck to the Floor? 350Z & 370Z CSC Failure Explained

Has your clutch pedal suddenly gone soft, stopped returning or stayed on the floor? Are you struggling to select gears?

These can be signs of CSC failure, a problem that affects manual Nissan 350Z HR and 370Z models.

At Tarmac Sportz in Derby, we supply CSC repair options and offer workshop fitting to get your car back on the road.

What Is a CSC?

The concentric slave cylinder (CSC) is part of your clutch hydraulic system. It uses hydraulic pressure when you press the pedal to operate the clutch release mechanism.

On these models, it sits inside the gearbox bellhousing, meaning the gearbox needs to be removed to access it.

Signs Your CSC May Be Failing

Clutch pedal sticking down
The pedal may return slowly, stay partially depressed or remain on the floor after being pressed.

A soft or spongy clutch pedal
You may notice less resistance than normal or an inconsistent pedal feel.

Difficulty selecting gears
If the clutch isn’t fully disengaging, selecting first or reverse can become difficult. Don’t force the gear lever.

A changing bite point
The clutch may start engaging closer to the floor, or the bite point may become unpredictable.

Loss of clutch fluid
A falling fluid level can indicate a leak in the hydraulic system and needs investigating.

These symptoms can also come from a faulty master cylinder, air in the system or another hydraulic fault. A proper diagnosis is essential before replacing parts.

What Are Your Repair Options?

Once CSC failure has been confirmed, you can discuss replacing the internal unit or converting to an external slave cylinder arrangement.

Tarmac Sportz offers the following options:

Z1 Motorsports V2 CSC Elimination Kit

This kit replaces the internal CSC arrangement with an external slave cylinder and separate release mechanism, making future slave-cylinder servicing more accessible.

It’s an option to discuss if your existing clutch and flywheel are still in suitable condition. Compatibility must be checked against your vehicle and clutch setup.

Clutch, Flywheel & V2 CSC Elimination Package

With the gearbox already removed, it makes sense to inspect the clutch and flywheel. If they’re worn or due for replacement, a complete package allows the work to be carried out together.

Tarmac Sportz offers a clutch, flywheel and V2 CSC elimination package for the Nissan 350Z HR and 370Z.
